Mercato Centrale Roma is a food hall set in one wing of Termini station, with its entrance at 36 Via Giolitti. On the ground floor, about twenty artisan stalls offer pizza, cured meats, cheeses, rotisserie, fish, world cuisine, pastries and gelato, to be eaten at big shared tables. Entry is free; you only pay for what you order. The hall is open every day, from the morning until about midnight; allow an hour for a meal, longer if you want to try several stalls.
Highlights

A meal across several stalls
The idea is to build your meal by moving between the counters: a slice of pizza al taglio, suppli or a trapizzino (a stuffed pizza pocket), a platter of cheeses and cured meats, then a dessert. Sit wherever you like in the hall; dishes come to the table or are collected at the counter depending on the stall.
Breakfast and coffee
In the morning the bakery and pastry counters serve cornetti and coffee, a handy stop before a train or before heading to Santa Maria Maggiore.
The first-floor restaurant
A gourmet restaurant, run at its opening by Michelin-starred chef Oliver Glowig, occupies the upper floor, for those who prefer table service.
Opening hours and prices
Free entry. Prices are shown at each stall; they are higher than in a neighbourhood pizzeria, but the products are billed as artisan quality. Hours vary a little by source and season: check the official Mercato Centrale website before you go.

Tips
Peak hours (12:30-2pm and 8-9:30pm) are packed; come early or late to find a seat. It is a good place for dinner after your train arrives or before a late departure. Prices are those of a tourist site: to eat for less, compare with the new Esquilino market or the Trionfale market. Watch your bags in the station and around it (see our advice on scams to avoid in Rome). Information checked in October 2026.
