Castel Romano Designer Outlet: shuttle from Rome, hours and tips for 2026

Updated on October 26, 2026

Castel Romano Designer Outlet (McArthurGlen) is a discount designer-brand shopping centre about 25 km south of Rome, in the countryside towards Pomezia. The simplest way to get there without a car is the paid shuttle from Termini station, about 18 € round trip for an adult (free for under-10s); there is also a shuttle from EUR Fermi and a combined train + shuttle ticket from Trenitalia. Hours vary by season (usually 10:00 to 20:00, later in summer): check the official site before you go. Allow half a day to a full day including travel.

Highlights

The setting

The setting

The centre is an open-air village of shops in the middle of the Roman countryside (pictured, the neighbouring WWF oasis of Castel Romano). The brands are those you find in outlets of this kind: fashion, sport, home, with discounts shown against original prices.

When to buy

The best reductions come during the winter sales (January-February) and summer sales (July-August); outside the sales, compare with the shop price before buying. Weekends are very busy: go on a weekday if you can.

Shuttle or car

The shuttle saves tolls and parking but fixes your return times, in late afternoon or evening. A rental car gives more freedom and combines with a trip to Ostia or Pomezia, but traffic on the Via Pontina is heavy at the end of the day.

Tips

  • Book the shuttle in advance in high season. Note the last return time before you start shopping. For tax-free purchases, keep your passport: travellers from outside the European Union can claim a refund, depending on the amount spent. Shuttle hours and fares noted in October 2026 from sources that do not always agree: confirm them.
