What the official ticket includes
The catacombs, at 430 Via Salaria, have no self-guided visit: every entry is guided. They are open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm, Sunday from 11:30am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm, closed Monday. The last tours start at noon and at 4pm. They are also closed on 1 November, 8 December, 24 to 26 December, 1 and 6 January, for maintenance from 11 January to 1 February 2027 and from 16 to 23 August 2027. Free for under-7s. They are cut into tuff and hold early Christian frescoes among the oldest in Rome. Access is by stairs: poorly suited to reduced mobility. See our Catacombs of Priscilla page.
Tiqets or the official ticket?
The Tiqets ticket is non-refundable and cannot be changed, and its €3 fee is higher than the official site's €2, but it is offered where you may already hold your other tickets. The official site offers more languages, including French and German: if you speak none of English, Italian or Spanish, choose it. The official site asks you to book through a form; if you get no reply within three working days, phone +39 06 45428493.
Which catacombs to choose?
Priscilla is in the north of the city, far from the centre (allow about 25 minutes), while the Via Appia catacombs are better known. If you visit only one, read which catacombs to visit in Rome and the catacombs of Rome page. Choose Priscilla for its early frescoes and a calmer visit.
Planning the visit
Dress warmly: it is cool all year. The catacombs combine with a day of underground Rome. Book at least a few days ahead, as departures are few.
Frequently asked questions
Is the visit guided? Yes, always, about 45 minutes.
Which day are they closed? Monday, and 1 November.
