Villa Gregoriana in Tivoli: tickets, opening hours and visit (2026)
Villa Gregoriana is a gorge park run by the FAI (the Italian national trust) in the centre of Tivoli, about 30 minutes from Rome: paths through greenery, caves, ancient ruins and the great Aniene waterfall, one of the tallest in Italy. A ticket costs 10 € full price on the official FAI page (14 € with a 30-minute introductory tour) and from 12 € on Tiqets, which rates the site 4.7/5 from 336 reviews (October 2026). Allow 1.5 to 2 hours, with steep stairs on the way back up.
Highlights

The great waterfall
The Aniene drops into the gorge from a channel dug in 1832 under Gregory XVI, after floods that had devastated Tivoli; the fall can be seen from several viewpoints along the route, with more or less flow depending on the season.

The temples of Vesta and the Sibyl
On the cliff top, the two temples of Tivoli's acropolis can be admired from the bottom of the park: the small round Temple of Vesta is one of the best preserved in the region. The view is best between the entrance and the first viewpoint.
Caves and ruins
The path descends to the Grotta della Sirena and the Grotta di Nettuno, carved by water, and passes the remains of the Roman villa of Manlius Vopiscus below the park. Wear closed shoes: the ground is sometimes wet and slippery.
Hours and prices
Sources disagree on opening times: one reseller says 9:30-17:00, another 9:00-19:00, last entry one hour before closing; the FAI site is the reference, and there may be closures on some days off season. Full ticket 10 € (14 € with a 30-minute introductory tour) on the FAI page, checked on 26 October 2026; Tiqets sells the ticket from 12 €. The route is steep and poorly suited to visitors with reduced mobility.

Tips
- Tiqets sells a combined ticket with Villa d'Este or Villa Adriana: see Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa, and to plan the best day Tivoli from Rome and Tivoli: which excursion to book. Bring water and walking shoes: the climb back is long. The FAI offers a guided visit on some days.
How to get there
Largo Sant'Angelo 1, 00019 Tivoli. From Rome, regional train from Roma Tiburtina to Tivoli (about 1 hour) then a 5-minute walk from the station, or a Cotral bus from Ponte Mammolo (metro B).
