Villa Adriana is the vast residence that Emperor Hadrian built in the 2nd century below Tivoli: palaces, baths, pools and pavilions are scattered across a park planted with olive trees and cypresses, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. The site opens every day at 8:30am. In October 2026, last entry is at 5:00pm and closing at 6:30pm until 24 October, then 4:00pm and 5:30pm once the clocks go back. A full-price ticket costs €15, and the €30 Villae Pass adds [Villa d'Este](/fr/attractions/villa-d-este-tivoli) and the Sanctuary of Hercules Victor, within 72 hours. Entry is free for everyone on the first Sunday of the month. Allow half a day: the site is large and is mostly explored on foot, along dirt paths.
Highlights

The Canopus
A long pool lined with columns and copies of statues, including caryatids, ending in a large semicircular hall. It is the best-known image of the villa.

The Maritime Theatre
A small villa built on a circular island, surrounded by a canal and a colonnaded portico. Hadrian could withdraw there from the rest of the court.

The Pecile
A large rectangular pool, once surrounded by a portico where people could stroll in the shade. Its size gives a sense of the scale of the villa.
The Large and Small Baths
Two neighbouring bath complexes, whose tall brick vaults are still partly standing.
The Mouseia and the model
An exhibition space and a scale model of the villa help you understand the layout of the site before or after your walk. In October 2026, they open from 9:00am to 6:00pm, then from 9:00am to 5:00pm after 24 October.

Buy tickets on the official ticketing site of the Villae institute, or at the ticket office. Reductions and free admission are available with proof of eligibility. The route includes paths and slopes: wear closed shoes and bring water and a hat, as shade is scarce. There is a paid car park in front of the entrance.
