Italian Open Tennis at the Foro Italico: Dates, Tickets and How to Get There
The Internazionali BNL d'Italia, Rome's tennis tournament, is played every spring on the clay courts of the Foro Italico, in the north of the city between the Tiber and Monte Mario hill. It is an ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 event, one of the big dates of the clay season just before Roland-Garros. The 2026 edition was played in May, with the main draws from 5 to 17 May; qualifying starts about a week earlier. The 2027 dates have not been announced yet: they are usually published several months ahead on the tournament's official website.
Highlights

The Centre Court
The Campo Centrale hosts the most anticipated matches, both by day and in the evening. It is the most expensive ticket category, with large stands open to the greenery of the Foro Italico.

The Pietrangeli court
Surrounded by marble statues and pine trees, this court is one of the most photogenic on the tour. The matches are of a very high standard, in an atmosphere closer to the players.
The outside courts
The "Ground Pass" ticket gives access to the secondary courts and areas of the site: you can watch matches and practice sessions, and bump into players between games. It is the most affordable option on the ticket office.
The Foro Italico complex
The site is a sports complex built in the 1930s, decorated with mosaics and statues of athletes, which also houses the Stadio Olimpico, next door to the tournament.

Tips
Buy only from the tournament's official ticket office (internazionalibnlditalia.com): unofficial resale is common and prices rise quickly. There are three ticket categories, the Centre Court, the Grand Stand Arena and the Ground Pass for the secondary courts; prices vary by day and session and are only published when sales open, so we do not quote them here. Quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals sell first: book as soon as sales open. Bring sunscreen, a cap and a bottle of water, as many stands are in the sun in the middle of the day, and May rain can interrupt play. Information checked in October 2026 for the 2026 edition; check all dates and prices on the official website.
How to get there
Foro Italico, piazza Lauro de Bosis, 00135 Rome. Metro line A to Ottaviano, then bus 32 to the De Bosis or Stadio Tennis stop. In 2026, a free shuttle for ticket holders linked Termini station to the site: check whether it is running again. From the centre, allow about 30 to 45 minutes; the area is very busy on big match days. To combine with a visit, Villa Borghese and Piazza del Popolo are to the south.
