Colosseum at night: night visit, price, dates and alternatives (2026)
You can visit the Colosseum at night during a special evening run by the Archaeological Park: about 60 minutes covering the first tier, the arena and the underground levels, for €50 full price (a €24 Full Experience ticket plus a €26 guided tour), €28 reduced, free up to age 6. Groups are capped at 25, booking is compulsory and dates are limited: in summer 2026 the evenings ran on certain nights from about 8pm to 11:15pm (last entry 9:50pm); the days change from month to month. Outside these evenings the monument closes at 4:30pm from 25 October 2026 and only the illuminated view from outside remains free.
Highlights

The illuminated Colosseum
At night the arcades are lit and the monument stands out against the sky, almost without crowds. The view from Via dei Fori Imperiali and from Colosseo station is free and available every evening.

The underground and the arena
The night visit includes the underground (the hypogeum), from which beasts and gladiators rose, and the arena floor: this is the most requested part and the reason for the price. See the Colosseum arena and underground.
Official visit or private tour
The official ticket is the cheapest, but places are scarce and go fast. Night tours sold by operators, with a guide and underground access, run from about €69 to €140 per person depending on the format; they suit you when the official evenings are full.

Tips
- Our pick: if the official evenings are full or do not fall during your stay, book the guided night visit with arena and underground access. Check dates and prices on the official Colosseum website before buying: the calendar changes month to month. The full-price ticket also covers the Roman Forum and Palatine the day before, the same day or the day after. All tickets are named: bring ID. Information checked in October 2026.
