Rome's climate in autumn

Usual climate values (indicative, based on average records) show a steady decline:

Month Min Max Rain

October 13 °C 22 °C about 88 mm over 8 days

What to do in Rome in autumn

Hours and planning

The clock change on 25 October 2026 puts the Colosseum on winter hours (8:30–16:30, last entry 15:30): visit outdoor sites in the morning. Book timed slots in advance for the most popular sites. The French All Saints school holidays bring crowds back in late October and early November.

Where to stay

Prices fall outside long weekends and holidays; see where to stay in Rome to choose a neighbourhood. To compare with the other seasons: Rome in spring, Rome in summer and Rome in winter.

Tips

  • Pack layers, a raincoat and comfortable shoes for wet cobblestones.
  • Mix outdoor sights in the morning with museums in the afternoon.
  • Check dates on official sites before booking: some are still to be confirmed.
