What the tour covers

The route links the squares that make up the historic centre: Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. These sites are close on foot, which is why the tour is short. The pages on each place give the rest: Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and Spanish Steps. Allow 2.5 hours of walking, with few breaks.

The catch: the Pantheon interior

Travellers have complained on other platforms about not entering the Pantheon when they thought it was included. Check on the listing whether the entry ticket is included, because otherwise you pay €7 separately and queue. A tour with entry included, such as the small-group one with a ticket, settles the question. The Trevi Fountain also has access rules: see its page.

Guide, audio guide or free walk?

A guide gives context (who built what, why) and organises the route; in a small group you can ask questions. The route is short and the centre small: with a map, you can do it alone. A self-guided route is in our walks in Rome. If you prefer to pay by tip, see Rome's free tour.

Which departure to choose?

In the morning the light is lovely on the Pantheon and Trevi is less crowded. In the evening the squares are lively but very busy. Check the departure time, the meeting point and the guide's language on the listing, and keep comfortable shoes.
