Train, flight, bus

How to choose

  • Direct train: the simplest option, centre to centre, no airports. Book early for the lowest fares.
  • Flight: only worth it if you leave from Fiumicino (see Rome airports) and allow time for the transfer from Brindisi. The sources we read disagree on airlines and frequencies, so check the airline's site.
  • Sleep in Bari instead? If you also want the trulli houses, see Rome to Bari and Rome to Matera.

Where to stay in Lecce and what to do

The baroque centre is walkable. For a night in the middle of it: Tivoli Palazzo 1880 Lecce Hotel or B&B Nuovo Reale - Centro Storico. To see the city with a guide, the Baroque Architecture and Underground Walking Tour is the most booked. For food, try the street food walking tour.
