Leonardo Express, FL1, bus or taxi: which one?
| Option | Price | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leonardo Express | €14 | 32 min, direct to Termini | Stays near Termini or a metro A/B connection |
| Regional train FL1 | €8 | about 30 min to Trastevere, 47 min to Tiburtina | Trastevere, Ostiense, Testaccio |
| Bus (Terravision, SIT) | from €4 | 45 min to 1 h | Tight budget, late arrival |
| Fixed-fare taxi | €55 per car | 40 to 60 min | Group of 3-4, heavy luggage, hotel inside the Aurelian Walls |
Our pick: take the Leonardo Express if you sleep in Esquilino or Monti, the FL1 for Trastevere, and the €55 taxi from three people. Full fares, plus Ciampino, in our guide to Rome's airports.
Arriving at Termini
The train arrives on the western platforms; the metro (lines A and B) and the official taxis are a few minutes away. Keep your bags close: the station is a pickpocket spot. Our Termini station guide covers left luggage, services and the exit to Esquilino. For onward travel, see getting around Rome.
If you would rather not organise anything
A prepaid private transfer waits at arrivals with a driver holding your name: handy with children, lots of luggage or a late flight. It costs more than the train, but the price is known in advance.
