Fiumicino: private transfers, sedan or minivan

This is the best fit for a family or group: sedan or minivan for 1 to 8 people, about 55 minutes, dropped at your accommodation. It is listed from $170 for a group of 2 and rated 4.9 out of 5 from 113 reviews when we looked. It is also the most expensive of the comparison: it makes sense from four people up, with children and suitcases. See the offer.

Ciampino or Fiumicino: private transfer to Rome

This is the most booked offer in our selection, about 2,400 reviews, rated 4.1 out of 5: the volume is reassuring, the average score less so. From $100 for a group of 3, 50 minutes to 1 hour. Some reviews mention an unclear meeting point when a flight is late, and waiting time for a delayed flight is not charged: send your flight number and keep the provider's phone number. See the offer.

Private transfer with meet and greet

The driver waits at arrivals with a sign bearing your name; your flight is tracked and 60 minutes of waiting are included. About 1 hour of driving, 4.9 out of 5 from 46 reviews. The "from" price of $33 is to be checked (per person or per vehicle). Note that the offer is not suitable for wheelchairs. It is a good choice for a first arrival in Rome or a night flight. See the offer.

Ciampino: transfer to/from Rome Termini

Price, pickup point and conditions: see the listing before comparing it with the official taxi at €40 per car. See the offer.

Shared shuttle from Ciampino

The only shared option in the comparison: about 45 minutes from $7. It resembles the Terravision or SIT shuttles described in our guide; on this route the Ciampino Airlink at €2.70 is still cheaper. Book it mainly if you want a fixed ticket for a specific time. See the offer.

Private transfer or public transport: the prices

Figures from our guide to the Rome airports (October 2026):

With four people, the fixed-fare taxi from Fiumicino (€55) costs about the same as four Leonardo Express tickets (€56). More on the taxis in Rome.

What is not included: the pitfalls

  • Price per vehicle or per person: it differs between offers; check before comparing.
  • Luggage: some offers limit you to one suitcase and one cabin bag per person.
  • Drop-off area: some listings are limited to addresses inside the Aurelian Walls; outside the zone, a surcharge may apply.
  • Flight delays: the waiting time is not the same everywhere (60 minutes for some offers); always give your flight number.
  • Touts: refuse offers in the arrivals hall, see scams to avoid in Rome.

Which offer should you choose?

  • Family with suitcases: the private minivan transfer from Fiumicino.
  • First arrival or late flight: the transfer with meet and greet and flight tracking.
  • Low-cost flight to Ciampino: the Ciampino to Termini transfer (see the listing), or the official €40 taxi if you are several.
  • Tight budget, solo traveller: the shared shuttle, or the train.
  • Couple, two suitcases, hotel near Termini: the Leonardo Express is enough.

Another option is a private transfer pre-booked with Welcome Pickups: the price is fixed before you travel, an English-speaking driver meets you in arrivals with a sign, and they track your flight, so a delay does not lose you the pickup. Prices read on their site on 30 October 2026: from €60 for a sedan (up to 3 passengers) and €81 for a minivan (up to 8) to the city centre; the same page lists a taxi to the centre at €55. If you travel alone with light luggage, there is a cheaper way: the Leonardo Express or the FL1 train. The private transfer is worth it mainly for a night arrival, a family, heavy luggage or a first visit; read the cancellation terms before paying.

Booking at the right time

Book in advance, especially for an early-morning or late-night arrival; the price depends on the date and the number of passengers. City transport is explained in our guide to getting around Rome, and choosing a neighbourhood in where to stay in Rome.
