The entry ticket

The sources I read do not all give the same price: €15 full price and €2 for EU 18-25 on a ticketing guide, €14 or €20 elsewhere. Only the official site for Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este (villae.cultura.gov.it) is authoritative on the day of your visit. The official winter hours seen in January 2026 ran from 8:30am to 5pm, last entry 3:30pm; the site is closed on 1 January and 25 December. Allow 2 to 3 hours on site, with good shoes.

Guided visit or day trip

The full-day Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa trip handles transport and the sequence of the two sites, which matters in winter when light fades early. Check the listing for the departure time, the time at each site and whether entries are included. To go alone, our Tivoli from Rome page explains the routes, and the Tivoli excursion compares the options.

Before you go

  • Distance: the villa is away from Tivoli's centre, so plan a bus or taxi from the town.
  • Seasons: very hot with no shade in summer; the site closes early in winter.
  • The two villas: Villa d'Este opens only in the afternoon on Mondays, see Villa d'Este.
  • The site page: Hadrian's Villa.

Which to choose

  • Independent: the entry ticket, booked on the official site.
  • First visit, no car: the guided day trip.
  • One day for Tivoli: the day trip, or two tickets with a bus plan.
