gocity.com compares each attraction with a "normal price, up to": Colosseum €45, Vatican Museums €59, Castel Sant'Angelo €37, Catacombs €59, Big Bus €36, St Peter's €22, Pantheon €18. Those figures are for the guided or enhanced versions the pass uses. The basic official tickets are much cheaper, which is why the comparison below matters.
Worked example: three days in Rome
Prices seen in October 2026 on the official sites.
| Plan | Cost |
|---|---|
| Single tickets: Colosseum, Forum and Palatine €18, Vatican Museums €25 online, Castel Sant'Angelo €18 | €61 (no transport) |
| Roma Pass 72 h €62.90 (two free entries, for example Colosseum and Castel Sant'Angelo, plus unlimited city transport) + Vatican Museums €25 | €87.90 with transport |
| Omnia Vatican & Rome Card, 72 h | €149 |
| Go City Rome Explorer | From €89 (the cheapest option; more attractions cost more) |
Result: single tickets are the cheapest for these three classics. The Roma Pass makes sense if you ride the metro and bus every day, and the Omnia Card if you add the tourist bus and several paid sites. Go City Rome would only win if you choose the pricier guided versions (Catacombs tour, audio-guided Colosseum), the hop-on hop-off bus and a cooking class, and use all of them.
Who should buy which
- Single tickets: you visit the Colosseum, the Vatican and one or two more; this is the cheapest option for most trips.
- Roma Pass: you plan several state museums and use public transport daily; see our Roma Pass and Omnia Card guide.
- Go City Rome: you want guided versions, the bus and experiences in one app, and you have checked the price of each.
Before you buy
- Even with a pass, the Colosseum and the Vatican need a time slot: see which tickets to book in Rome, the Colosseum ticket comparison and early access to the Vatican.
- Many Rome sights are free, such as St Peter's Basilica and the fountains: a pass loses value if you mostly visit those.
- To organise your days, read Rome in 3 days. Go City's offer is on gocity.com/rome.
