What the official ticket includes
The baths, at 52 Viale delle Terme di Caracalla, are among the best-preserved imperial buildings of antiquity. The named ticket is bought online on Musei Italiani; on site, the machines accept bank cards only. Entry is free for under-18s and for everyone on the first Sunday of the month (1 November 2026), but the Domus of Vigna Guidi stays closed then. The site offers no official guided tour or skip-the-line. See our Baths of Caracalla page.
GetYourGuide or the official ticket?
The GetYourGuide ticket with audio guide adds audio commentary to the entry ticket. I could not reopen the listing on 30 October: check the price on the day. Other resellers show the audio guide as an option at about €5 and virtual reality at about €9, which gives an order of magnitude for the extra cost. Since the official ticket is cheap, the only real reason to buy from a reseller is the audio guide. Reviews are mixed on other platforms: read what the ticket really includes, and do not count on priority entry, which does not exist at this site.
When a guided tour is worth it
The baths are vast and largely bare brick: without explanation, they are hard to read. The audio guide is enough for most visitors; a guide makes sense if you want to see the underground, open only on special visits. The Rome Opera's summer concerts left the baths in 2026 (programme moved to the Circus Maximus) and their return has not been announced: see concerts and shows in Rome.
Planning the visit
Come on a weekday from 9am: there is little shade, so bring water. For a day of ancient Rome, continue to the Palatine and the Colosseum.
